What is CD Crafting?

Welcome to my new blog

I often talk about new products we have, and a lot of these products are CD’s.

Not everybody knows what Crafting CD is, what it’s used for and how. This has become more apparent during our first year of attending shows, as we have been asked quite often, what they are and how they are used.

Firstly, let’s look at a general CD. You may have  some with music on, you may have had photo’s saved onto them. Basically, they are a form of storage. Slot them into the CD tray in your computer and they will play any music on them; or you can find files such as photo’s, text files etc on there which you can restore or transfer to your PC.

Crafting CD’s are no different. They store images created by the designer, and you can use these in projects.

Insert a Debbie Moore CD and it should open automatically once in the CD/DVD tray. You then follow the onscreen instructions.

With Magik Graphics CD's all you need to do is locate the files and open them, as follows:

Once in the CD/DVD tray, you locate the CD, which can be found by looking in 'This PC', and finding the CD/DVD drive. Click on it and there will be a list of files on the right hand side. Click on one of the files and you will have a list of elements, which you then click into and use.

I decided that I would use just 1 of the backing papers, on Magik Graphics Collage Fusions Stamp It Up CD

I chose the Floral Fanfare file and used the decorative square panel 2.

I didn’t have any white 8 x 8 card, so I used one that had black on the front, white inside and white on the back.

I would use the black to create a border to bring the card together, and finish the card off:

I printed 2 of the backing sheets and cut the butterfly out of the 2nd sheet and layered it on top of the first one, to give it depth. I used 2 tiny double sided foam squares on top of one another, to give the impression that the butterfly was flying. I then added a 'frame' cut from Tonic Jasmine Sunset Layering die.

Next I cut out a number of petals and leaves from Spellbinders Carnartion Creation Die and I made 3 flowers from them.

I used a Sweet Dixie  'Happy Birthday' die, for the sentiments, and glued the flowers and leaves to the bottom right corner of the card

A beautiful, very simple and quick card,

I hope you agree!

Until the next time ...
